How to Play Human Foosball

You play human foosball just as you would table foosball but with real people. Players line up facing each other, with the goal of working as a team to get the ball into the opposing team’s goal.

Set a pre-determined final. This can be score-based (i.e. the first team to score X# goals wins) or time-based (i.e. the team with the most goals after 20 minutes wins). If there is an advantage for one side of the court (i.e it is windy or the ground appears unlevel), you should switch sides halfway through the game. You can also schedule an official half-time, where all players take a 5-minute break.

Teams line up with mid-fielders facing each other. You can use as many or as few players as you want. Players can only move from side to side and must keep their hands on the bar at all times. The goal is to work as a team to move the ball forward and into the other team’s goal.

You can use any ball you choose, but the most common ball to use is a soccer ball. If the ball is too dense, like a basketball, it may be harder to kick. If it is too light, like a kickball, it will be more likely to become airborne, resulting in fouls.

Basic Rules:

  1. Players must hold onto the horizontal bars with both hands at all times.
  2. Players cannot lower their chin under the height of the bar.
  3. Keep the ball low – it is a could if any player, intentionally or not, is hit with the ball above the shoulders. You can foul yourself if the ball hits the side of the court and bounces back to hit you in the head.
  4. It is okay to use your arms to block the ball, as long as your hands stay on the bar.
